Park Gavrila Principa

Gavrila Principa Park (formerly Financial Park until 2017) is the oldest park in the city of Belgrade. The park has existed since 1836, and in 1864, it was declared the first public park in Belgrade. Today, the park covers an area of 1.95 hectares, although it was significantly larger throughout its history.

The park is located in the neighborhood of Savamala, in the municipality of Savski Venac. It stretches between Kneza Miloša Street to the east, Admirala Geprata Street to the north, Balkanska Street to the west, and Nemanjina Street to the south. Adjacent to the park are the building of the Government of the Republic of Serbia, the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Serbia, the Supreme Court of Cassation of the Republic of Serbia, and the Amam kneza Miloša, a cultural monument built in 1836.

A complete reconstruction of the park was carried out in 2004, after which a monument to Prince Miloš was placed in the park. Another reconstruction took place in 2011, and in 2015, a monument to Gavrilo Princip was erected. The Belgrade City Assembly officially changed the park’s name to Gavrila Principa Park on April 18, 2017.
